The controversy surrounding the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has taken a fresh twist, with Prince Adeyemi insisting that Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, was fully aware of his appointment.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Adeyemi dismissed allegations that he forged official documents or impersonated a government official, maintaining that he acted legitimately.
He expressed confidence that the courts would eventually establish the truth, urging Nigerians not to rush to judgment as legal proceedings are already underway.
According to Adeyemi, he has committed no offence and believes the judiciary will vindicate him.
His remarks come days after the Presidency declared the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council a non-existent government agency and accused him of using forged documents to claim appointment as its Director-General.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had stated that the Federal Government never created the council, adding that documents allegedly appointing Adeyemi were forged, including signatures purportedly belonging to the Chief of Staff.
The Nigeria Police Force has since arraigned Adeyemi and two other suspects on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy, forgery, impersonation and related offences. The case is scheduled to continue later this month.
Despite the criminal charges, Adeyemi remains defiant, insisting that his appointment was genuine and that Gbajabiamila had knowledge of it.
The conflicting claims have further intensified public interest in the case, with many Nigerians now awaiting the court proceedings, which are expected to determine whether the appointment was legitimate or part of an elaborate fraud involving a fictitious government agency.
